vendace Posted April 8, 2002 Share Posted April 8, 2002 I have recently installed combat mission.But I get very dark graphics,I do not get "can you see this",but it goes straight to options for monitor resolution.I have deleted preferences file and also uninstalled and reinstalled but the same happens.I have Windows 98,Directx 8,ATI RAGE PRo graphics.Have run Directx Diagnostic tool,everything enabled. refresh rate set to optimal.Can anyone help? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Schrullenhaft Posted April 9, 2002 Share Posted April 9, 2002 When you launch CM for the first time or the first time after deleting the prefs file you will get resolution selection screens. There is no "can you see this" screen. 'Can you see this' is the resolution selection process, which will start with your current desktop resolution and work down to lower resolutions. The refresh rate may be higher than your current setting (it will attempt the highest refresh rate that your card can use at that resolution; which can be limited by the monitor definition). Within the game itself there is a gamma adjustment 'hotkey' - I think it is ALT+G. I think that there are a total of 5 'steps' of gamma available with the default being the middle of the five. Are you loading up any gamma control or 'tweaker' utilities for your video card ? I don't think that the Rage Pro drivers offer much in the way of universal gamma adjustment. What driver version are you using ? A new driver for the Rage Pro's was recently released for Win9x/ME (v. 4.13.1.2655). It probably won't change your gamma, but it may be worth using. Alikersantti Pohjanmaalta Posted April 12, 2002 Share Posted April 12, 2002 Do you have any problems with any other Game beside CM? Do you have the same problem with lower resolutions too? If you have MODs in your bmp directory, please take back the originals and gradually test the new MODs. When I reinstalled CM I just got black startup screen just due to the MODs. I am still checking which on is causing this effect.
