Problems installing 1.01 CMBB

every time i install it and try run it under the 1.01 short cut, the game sayes please insert cd, and make sure you did a full install.

i ran from the original shortcut and it works but it say 1.0 on the bottem of the screen. is it possible it installed but still sayes 1.0? blah, need help

well, i looked in the trouble shooting guide, nothing worked. im all out of ideas, maybe if anyone else had the same problem they could tell me. thanks

Where did you purchase your copy of CMBB, is it a retail copy (CDV) or is it one you purchased over the Internet from BFC ? The patches on the Battlefront website are only meant for the Internet version of the game. The retail version requires that you download the patches from CDV's site for CMBB ("Combat Mission 2"). You can get them from this mirror site.

The retail (CDV) version uses a different copy protection scheme, so if you patch it with the BFC/Internet patch your game won't recognize the CD as being the proper one since it is expecting the BFC copy protection scheme. The main thing that changes in the patch is the executable, which is the only file that will give you a different version number in the lower right hand corner (so if you only replaced the executable, you could be missing some BMPs and WAVs). If the number indicates the earlier version, then that is what you're running (possibly because the shortcut is still pointing to the old executable - the patch may not install over the previous executable and you may need to move the files around manually). The CDV patches also contain a lot more files due to the number of languages supported and the earlier date it had to be submitted for CDV's QA, thus missing some of the files that made it into the intial (v. 1.0) BFC release.
