Slappy
I played a QB with 600pts of defending partisans in June '42 (I think). The partisans have points for Infantry, Support, Artillery and Fortifications only. No artillery is available for purchase. Between Infantry and Support, the only 462pts are available, leaving a whopping 138pts that MUST be spent on fortifications. This is the equivalent of 8 AT and 6 AP minefields. Is this reasonable? These guys don't have so much as two potatoes to rub together in the area of vehicles, but they carry 5600 sq meters of mines (7600 sq meters if they're all AP)? That's more than a soccer pitch full of mines. Thoughts?
Michael Emrys
Whaddya mean "MUST be spent"? You can simply not spend those points, can't you? That said, it looks a little strange to me too. I guess it was meant to be spent on a roadblock or two and a little wire along with the mines, but it seems a bit much to me too. Michael
Doodlebug
At the highest level partisans operated from fortified bases and so it would not be implausible for high levels of fortifications to be available to them. The Soviets planned and operated the partisan movement as an adjunct to Army operations. German anti partisan operations could be virtually corps level actions. PeterNZer
Doodle is right, the most common company-level partisan/kraut operation would have been a german attack against a partisan base. Most other battles would be out of CMs scale. Anyway, fortify away! Peter
Michael Emrys
Hmm, I admit that what I had in mind was more along the line of an ambush of German logistical units with escort. Something along the lines of a convoy of trucks traveling a road through forest or hills. In a case like that, the partisans could easily improvise a roadblock and put down a few mines, even have dug a trench, but anything more extensive would likely be out of the question.
