Newbie Questions

Firstly hallo everyone !

Got a few questions I wondered if folks could help me with, couple of caveats first I've only got the demo at the moment so if the answer is self explanatory in the full game please feel free to say. Secondly I realise some of these may have been done to death already, again please say and I'll start wading through the back posts.

ok then,

1) The vehicle line up is pretty nice, with some lesser well known types eg Kangaroo etc, however there are a few gaps that would add to the game if filled eg AEC heavy A/C for the Brits, various SPG/tankhunters for the Germans ( conveniently many of these only saw service in France and the low countries ), so do the makers intend to put extra vehicles into the game via patches or some kind of vehicle pack ?

2) if not is there some way for modders to import new models into the game, not just camo designs but whole new models?

3) Rifle grenades? do infantry have them, mine necer seem to use them ,yet they were pretty common.

Many thanks

First of all, there is an FAQ thread somewhere on the main board. It answers all your other questions.

1. CM is done. Finished. Battlefront is working on CMBB- Barbarossa to Berlin, the sequel to CMBO.

2. Mods only alter the "skins" of vehicles, terrains, or uniforms, not the 3D models or properties of units. They're for show only, and have no effect on the game except to make it prettier.

3. American troops often have rifle grenades in their rifle squads. Click on a squad, you will see one or two some green cone-shaped things in the interface somewhere around the left side (can't remember where exactly.)

Welcome to the forum, I gotta run

Thanks for replying guys, to be honest I suspected that no new models could be imported into the game, but thought I would check. Shame really, certainly there's a couple of vehicles for the brits you could easily justify , later Humber a/c's ( 37mm gun ) were in widespread use, certainly more widespread than the Kangaroo conversions - still I guess it's one for CM 2 ;)

The Barbarossa campaign sounds very interesting, and I've only just ordered CMBO...

As regards rifle grenades, I thought that that's what the little green grenades represented but I couldn't find a way to use them, perhaps the full game will bring enlightenment.

Again thanks for your time.

Hi Orange - Welcome to the addiction (CMPA - CM Players Anonomous).

The TacAI will use rifle grenades (US Infantry) as and when it sees fit. The same thing applies to Panzerfausts (German Infantry), Demo Charges (Engineers), and Gammon Bombs (UK Airborne). In other words, the player has no direct control over their use (other than to get their squads into positions where the AI is likely to use them I suppose...)

Alas, the game hasn't been released in the UK yet. But the good news is it comes out on the 22nd of this month, and I've placed a pre-order with Softwarefirst... I played the demo and thought "right, I'm buying this" picked up the phone and opened the wallet. I've got to say I'm really looking forward to it, it looks like being one of those " just one more turn " games

Ah right, that makes sense, pity there isn't some way to direct them - that'd be handy.
