Conscript FJ?

Recommended Posts

My grandfather was in a luftwaffe support unit as a truck driver. one day some officers came up and searched replacements for the combat units. he could choose between "field division" and "fallschirmjaeger".he choose the fj's but put a big cross in the "no"-field under the question: "Available for jumps?"

this was in 44. he had some training so he probably would be "green". he often said: "then us and the "real" fj's went there and there.."

I think it's correct to have conscript FJ troops. Altough it should be depended what year it is.

In 1944 and 1945, the FJ troops were not the same troops that had been used in low countries and later in Greece.

For instance, the 9th FJ Division was the first one to throw their weapons away and run for their life when the Russian attack in Seelow hills began.
