4FanAWOL
Hi, If you have access to an academic library check out the October issue of War and Society. Most of the issue is concerned with asects of the military in traditional China. The last article could be useful to scenario designers or anyone interested in some background reading on a relatively unknown campaign of the war in Germany. 'This is the way wars end, with a bang and not a whimper': Middle Franconia in April 1945 / Fritz, Stephen G. Lot of interesting information on this late phase of the war, mentions air attacks on American ground forces by German jets. Tactics used by the 12th armor div. to counter suicide panzerfust attacks. (Suppression machine gun fire combined with infantry on the tank decks lobbing grenades into foxholes). Also stresses the ferocity of the fighting, the difficulty of the terrain and the fanaticism of the German defenders, (executing civilians including women, who were 'defeatist') War and society Vol. 18, no. 2 (Oct. 2000)pp 121-153 has lots of German and US source references. regards Harryr
