grinchak
Will CMBB include the ability of troops to shoot flares at night to illuminate enemy movement for a short period of time in a limited area?
Cabo Frio
I also look for this in future game. Can the game handle flares though? Is that some sort of animation?
Mud
Not until the engine rewrite (if then), unless things have REALLY changed. Computing the lighting effects, given terrain, weather, nearby flaming vehicles... gah. Figure that it'd open up numerous cans of wyrms, such as whether or not units should have impaired night-vision, how much and for how long... and so forth. mrcitizenkane
I read a report on Russian Night fighting in WWII and the Soviets did not use flares very much at all. They were very short on them and also they wanted to keep night fighting as simple as possible.
Chad Harrison
I asked this same question a couple months ago, but it was more of "why they were not in CMBO?". Both sides used them quite a bit (not just in hollywood). It was not a question of graphics, but just to recieve the bonus of 'seeing' from them. The vertict was that they were not included on purpose (cant remember why? ) and they would not be in CMBB. I would like to see them included, we dont need a graphic for a falling flare, just the bonus from them. Maybe they could even just make a circular area "brighter"?
