Egan
What conditions do I need to have to allow armour to cross frozen rivers? I've tried with extreme cold etc but can't seem to manage it,Or did this feature not make the final game?
Chad Harrison
IIRC, it is dependent on the weight of the vehicle. I dont know if they can or not, but try it with lighter vehicles. Chad
Egan
Hmm, Well I tried with lots of different vehicles and I can't get it to work. I guess they decided against it in the end. I hope I'm wrong though because I wanted to do a battle on a big frozen lake , taking the different islands and stuff..that would have been fun! Chad Harrison
Thats interesting, I have never seen a vehicle on ice, but have never tried it either. Maybe its not in then. Chad
Egan
At one point there was the possibility of the coldest settings creating ice that armor could move over, I think there were going to be three differet setting altogether.
Michael Emrys
The manual specifically states that vehicles can never cross frozen water. I posted to that effect a week or so ago. I would hazard a guess that shallow fords would still be crossable though. Michael
Egan
Yeah, I just found that bit in the manual. Shallow fords you say? I will try that, cheers
Yggdrasill
Any thoughts as to why BFC chose to do it this way? I'm guessing because it's too complicated to distinguish between waterbodies with ice sufficiently thick to support vehicles and those where you'll get a *CRACK<>KERPLOONK<>GLUB GLUB* instead. Incidentally, one way (partially) around this is to do as the designer did for the Lake Ladoga scenario, to make a road across the lake, on which the vehicles can drive. As for using a road, it's not a bad idea but i sort of had this mad image on my head of the frozen lake battle from 'Doctor Zhivago'( i think it was) updated to ww2.!
