Schrullenhaft Posted December 14, 2001 Share Posted December 14, 2001 CM has no problems with any version of DirectX (though it needs v. 6.1 as a minimum). Your sound and video drivers may be another case however. Most of the time they should work, but some drivers may have a problem. You may want to check the manufacturer or chipset manufacturer's sites for any info on driver compatibility with particular DirectX versions. Most of the time it is just support of the new features that a particular version of DirectX may offer and not necessarily compatibility issues. If you run other games, some older titles have problems with newer versions of DirectX. Also, DirectX 8.1 is out. So if you're upgrading to get the latest version you may want to install it instead.
