Hpt. Lisse
Hey all. Just wanted to make a link to the GeForce registry mod, which enables Nvidia's own overclocking tools within its driver set. There's also a temp. reading for FX chipset owners. Please read the directions (which are very simple) and choose "Auto Detect" for a safe OC. There's a box to check, too, in order to boot to your new settings every time. My results - on an eVGA FX5900 non-Ultra, it boosted the GPU freq. from 400 MHz to 461, and the memory from 800 to 850. My 3DMark2003 score went from 5170 to 5830, and the card's temp has remained the same (44 C). Enjoy.
Brent Pollock
Giving it a go - thanks. [Edit to add]: ...it didn't completely clear up the armour hashing that can happen on 4 to 16 x magnification, but it might be reducing it...it certainly didn't seem as prominent as before. TufenHuden
Still the EVGA 5700 Ultra is still a better chioce with DDR-2 ram with the NV-36 chip.
Hpt. Lisse
You are incorrect, sir. The 5900's 256-bit (vs. 5700's 128 bit), 8 pipeline architecture (the 5700 has 4 pipes) leaves it in the dust, even in stock form. It's all about the bandwidth, man...
