Specific rules when playing pbem games ?

I would like to know if there are any specific or detailed houserules when playing in an pbem game,like for example not to buy this cind of weaponry or whatever else that cover's the general matter of rules ?

The best so far was developed by Moriarty. You will need a blank map and both players purchase their troops in the editor. That is it... no point limits for either player.

Needless to say, this does require that you trust each other

Generally : no

There excist some purchase rules like the Fionn or the Scipio purchase rules - both can be found for example at www.warfarehq.com - the use is of course no must.

A very important tip : if you want to use any restrictions or extra rules, clarify everything BEFORE THE BATTLE!!!!!! The biggest pain in the ass are players who start to grumble around about a tactic or purchase of their opponent, althought they have nothing restricted before!

Another option is the one I use for the Triple Battles (a moderated game form);

Each player commands a fairly historical unit (regiment/brigade size).

They want/need to reinforce it, and assess what reinforcements they want.

Then they request those reinforcements from their superiors (me), and I give them something that I feel fitting with their request, chain of command and game balance.

For example; It goes without saying that if they request "two tanks, three TDs and one assault gun" they'll get a platoon or two of either tanks or TDs... At least for an attack.

For a defence they'd more likely get towed ATGs and/or IGs.
