sturner
Does anyone use the US Army Historical Study Phamplet series? I am currently considering creating a Russian front scenario on one encounter listed in Phaphlet 20-269, Small Unit Actions During the Geman Campaign in Russia. I am interested in what others use for sources. [ 08-08-2001: Message edited by: sturner ]
Admiral Keth
sturner, I highly recommend the entire line of Osprey books. Osprey Publishing
Frenchy
Sturner: I used a variety of sources for the few I designed. The primary sources were official documents form the National Archives. I was fortunate to have access to them; books, maps, and personal accounts. My scenarios dealt with one specific division; I have accumulated tons of sources through the last few years. For maps - you can order modern day 1:50,000 scale maps from several sources. I have found that the French Blue series of maps from IGN are excellent. However, if you have some extra dough to spend, you can obtain copies of the original maps from the National Archives. These maps are outstanding, especially in the 1:25,000 scale or 1:50,000 scale. For most though books will provide the meat of the research material.
