Bruno Weiss
What is up with the delay in targeting for the 82mm Rocket battery FO? 15 minutes!!! You gotta be kidding me. For a standard 25-35 turn QB, that is as close to useless as one can get. The guy would have to shave a couple times between calling in for fire support and seeing it actually happen. Foxbat
Maybe they have to load up the launcher before they fire it?
Björn Eriksson
I think it's supposed to be used as a preplanned barrage.
Bruno Weiss
Pre-planned barrage, pre-planned, pre-planned, hmmm, crap. Now I gotta go read somefink. Are there pitchures?
KG_SSpoom
Too much Vodka back at the mortar battery... have to wake them up, then their heads are pounding.....feel lucky if they send any rounds after the bender they put on.
jdmorse
....and then when they arrive, they are likely to be WAY off target. With rockets a pre-plan fire mission is the only way to use them, imho. They still cover a big area but will be as accurate as those buggers can be, esp since you usually don't have LOS initially [ November 27, 2002, 01:48 PM: Message edited by: jdmorse ]
Silvio Manuel
Aren't all Soviet rockets Corps level assets? Auto-crappy ETA for that. Just imagine Stalin's purges against teachers and intellectuals, and the massive attrition of all Soviets, and imagine the poor saps that are just being taught Trigonometry to compute the arty trajectory (supposedly the lack of math skills was a big factor in the Soviets using so much DF arty instead of indirect), AND they have crappy C-and-C exacerbated by the request having to go all the way up to Corps. Quintus
Rockets are Corps level assets so the Command delay is a pain. Where I think they come into their own is in Attack vs Defense games for either side... Buy a couple of 82mm spotters and aim them at the area you expect the enemy to be deployed in... stagger the arrival times using the hotkey and let rip. At the very least, the enemy infantry will spend a fair old while regretting getting out of bed that morning and it'll disrupt the hell out of an enemy advance or allow you to advance closer while the defender regains his composure.
