CMBB Installation Error

Recommended Posts

Upon install it nearly finishs then at

Extracting Demo Data\Wav\00083700.wav it sais

CRC failed in Demo Data\Wav\00083700.wav

Unexpected end of archive

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, I have downloaded off all four sites that the demo download page has, everytime same result, I have changed the installation address as well. Nothing seems to be working...

And yes I am 100% sure I deleted all remnents before I reinstalled.... every single damn time.

EDIT: I am able to launch the game access all menus and even see the "Quick battle (not avaible in demo), but no operations or anything tutorials are avaible. It opens with music as well.

I'm confused. Has the program now extractly correctly or do you get that error and you're still able to run the game to the point you mentioned in your edit above ?

I don't know why, but you're having a problem with the download. The file is corrupt or there is something on your computer that is corrupting it (while it extracts - the file may OK, just the extraction process itself is corrupting). You don't see any scenarios because it seems you don't get far enough into extracting the files to extract them. You're probably missing sounds and possibly bitmaps too.

What program are you using to download the Demo with. I suggest skipping on using a 'download accelerator'. You may also want to turn off a majority of the programs you have running in the background (both during the download and during the install). I highly suggest turning off any anti-virus program you may have running too.

You may want to run Scandisk or CHKDSK on your system to make sure the file system isn't corrupted either.

What OS are you using?

I had some very bad experiences with zipped files after I first installed WinXP Pro - I was getting the symptoms you describe with the majority of files that I tried to unpack.

Now the bad news - I don't know what fixed it.

You might like to try turning off DMA access on your hard disks for a test - go to Device Manager and look at properties for the IDE adapters.

Best of luck, Len
