Background weather effects..

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me with Background weather sounds in Combat Mission.

I know from the soundmap compiled by help from Madmatt that sound 5000-5007 are the background weather sounds...

But for what weather is each sound?

like 5005 is for night.. I think.. smile.gif

and does anyone know for what command each voice sound is.. like 2000-2007 must be for the germans when they advance...

The CM soundmap only says that 2000-2142 is for german voices..

I don't have the exact details in front of me since I don't usually collect this kind of information, but I've seen, several times, line by line (wav.file by wav.file ?) translations of the words uttered by the different nationalities.

If I were looking for this kind of information I would begin the search at Michael Dorosh's Canuck site. If the sound information isn't there, take a look at Tommy, and then maybe Grossdeutschland.

The other site that I'm pretty sure has some of this information is Appui-Feu.

You'll still be missing some unit dialog, but it's out there, somewhere. I've seen it, just can't remember where. Maybe one of the sound grogs can help.

Yeah.. I'm thinking about changing the background sounds..

Now I think it's too much "background war sounds" like explosions and MG fire. I want those sounds to be less frequent.

just more of the usual country background sounds.

Just need to know for what weather each sound is.

Like 5000 for clear weather, 5001 for snowy weather or whatever and so on.

So it won't sound like Snowy cold weather on a hot summer day.

I haven't found any site with just those particular sounds and what they stand for.

And if anyone could tell me which files contain the idling tank sounds, I'd love to wipe that one out! Listening to that engine while I'm trying to give my orders sure is unsettling. I usually have to turn the sound down on my speakers and then turn it back up when the movie starts.

Instead of deleting the sound altogether you might want to just decrease the volume of that wav file. This can easily be done with windows sound recorder. Just decrease it until you can't hear it until the camera's right up next to the tank. It should stop annoying you and it will still be there when you do over-the-shoulder view
