rune
I just finished a scenario based on the fighting at Mount Battaglia, better known as Battle Mountain. It now needs play testing, and if you choose to play it, feedback is required. A massive map and 60 turn time, so not for the faint of heart. 3500 points. Email me if you are interested in testing it. Here is the briefing: Title: Battle Mountain Type: Axis Assault Date: September 28th, 1944 Location: Mount Battaglia Region: Italy Weather: Dusk, Overcast, Mountain Terrain: Dirt Wind: Breeze from the ENE Turns: 60+ Best Played as: Best played as Allied Single Player or Experienced player as Americans Author: Tim 'Rune' Orosz Background: The 88th Infantry Division [Known as the Blue Devils] had seen combat since Feb. 1944 almost non-stop. Their part in the Gothic Line attack took them towards three mountains vital to the German position, Mount Battaglia, Mount Grande, and Mount Capello. Rain, mud, and slime slowed the advance, and the Germans thought the weather conditions on the mountain tops and passes would keep the Allies from operating, but they were wrong. On the night of 27 September 1944, led by Italian Partisans, the 350th Infantry Regiment took Mount Battaglia without a shot being fired. The German High Command upon learning that the high point of the area was within Allied hands, ordered parts of 4 divisions to seize the mountain back "at all costs", since they mountain overlooked a vital crossroad. Unknown to the 350th, the attacks on the flanks had not succeeded. With the exception of a small cart trail leading to friendly lines, the 350th was surrounded. As the Americans prepared their positions as best as they could, the elite 1st Fallschimjäger Division (the defenders of Monte Cassino earlier in the year) prepared for their assault, on the Mountain soon to be nicknamed "Battle Mountain". I would love to play it and see your take on the fight. Hope it is not too late to get it. Will send e-mail also. Thanks!
