Holman
[minor SPOILER ALERT: The Defense of Snipe] . . . . . . . . . . . . In this October 1942 scenario I receive a number of Italian reinforcements, including Bersaglieri rifle platoons. These contain "LMG squads" that, in the scenario editor for that time period at least, should include five men: four rifles and a Breda LMG. However, several of the LMG squads in this scenario include *five* rifles and no LMG. The information firepower window gives a line for "5 [whatever] rifles" and "0 Breda LMG." The squads in question have taken no casualties. They are not half-squads, but are called "LMG squads" just as the 5/1 squads are in the scenario editor. I wonder what happened? My understanding is that specific core weapons cannot be added or taken away from squads in scenario design. How did these LMG squads end up this way. (Indeed, a later reinforcement platoon in this scenario has its LMG squads correctly given four rifles and one LMG.) I'm just curious to know how this occurs.
Hans
Hi Martyr My guess is that the troops were selected prior to the Italian army structure being 'set' with the Beta being completed. The Defense of Snipe was one of the first Scenarios designed - however I cannot explain while the units didn't undate later with the new information. Perhaps the act of evil spirits? Holman
Ah... a legacy of earlier code. That would explain it! I'm just assuming that they lost their LMGs somewhere in the sand.
