APPLE EXPO, PARISþSeptember 10, 2002þApple® today announced that starting in January 2003, all new Mac® models will only boot into Mac® OS X as the start-up operating system, though they will retain the ability to run most Mac OS 9 applications through Apple's bundled Classic software. There are nearly 4,000 native applications now available for Mac OS X.

I hope battlefront would solve OSX problem before 2003...

20% of the user base is expected to have OS X on their computers by the end of 2002. How many of those use it exclusively is hard to say.

I don't know if there will be a resolution to the current problem of running CMBB in 'software rendering mode' under OS X/Classic. It comes down to software rendering at 800x600 (rather than 640x480) which is probably problematic. Hopefully a patch can be released that might address this, but there's a good possibility that there may be no solution involving OSX & Classic.

In terms of actually running in hardware rendering in OS X or Classic, it just isn't going to happen before the rewrite, which isn't likely to appear before the end of 2004. While RAVE support in 10.2 is improved, it still isn't enough for a game like CM.
