Not sure whether this just started is or is the second half of a 2-hour program. Either way, they just had a dazzling segment on the Sanger Antipodal Bomber, complete with 5000 pound dirty bomb and are getting ready to to the around the corner assault rifle (Krummerlauf?). Am viewing this on time Warner Cable.

The show was actually on weird Axis weapons, of which the parts most likely to be of direct interest

here were the genesis of the Krummerlauf (crash defensive armament for the Ferdinand to keep infantry off), which broke up the bullet, creating a nasty machine shotgun effect and the Tauchpanzer III, shown in period imagery and in computer animation. Naturally, the stock footage people managed to splice in Von Rosen's reviewing his King Tigers when they had perfectly good footage available! The top item featured an interview in which Atwater, APG's curator, showed the two models of the weapon, one with a roughly 45 degree bend, the more familiar one with a a right angle in it, described the mirror sight (depicted via graphic) and talked about the impromptu shotgun effect. The image of the fired projectiles revealed ragged-edged man macerators of the first order.
