Major Computer Problem need HELP!

If your BIOS can no longer detect your hard drives (and I mean by checking in your CMOS/BIOS Setup), then you're most likely out of luck. Either your motherboard is bad (IDE controller / Southbridge chip has become defective) or your hard drives are bad. Can the BIOS detect any other IDE devices like your CD/DVD drive ? If it can then your hard drives have died.

I'm not sure which case is more likely - the motherboard's IDE controller going out or two hard drives going out (which could be the fault of the power supply).
