CMAK hard freeze during scenarios

Recommended Posts

I've searched pretty extensively, tried some of the more common solutions, updated my Nvidia drivers, and generally tried to make sure my machine is in good working order.

Never the less, CMAK is still completely locking up my computer during scenarios (have to turn off power to turn off computer). The time seems to be variable (2 min. to 6 hrs. so far). Also, on rare occasions I don't get a total freeze, but unhandled exception error instead, although it doesn't give an address or any such information.

I thought maybe ya'll could help me out, as I've tried everything I personally know how to do. Maybe, there is something I am missing that is obvious. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also, CMBB was not vulnerable to this before, but now it does the same thing - i'm thinking i probably made things worse at some point.

Most likely a heat problem.

Do you have software to monitor CPU and GPU temperature?

Make sure all the fans are working and not clogged with dust, and neither their heatsinks. This is very common for the trashy old NVidia fans, and for some models of CPU fans with very narrowly arranged high ribs.

Do not take the heatsinks off unless you have thermal paste ready.
