John Kettler
The Alkett conversions which figured so prominently as much of 21 PD's strength had, so far as I knew, no color imagery. Until now! Take a look at what's in the right background here. Note also the captured ZIS-3 in the right foreground. http://www.ceris-normandie.com/archivesnormandie/PhotosHD/p004604.jpg Regards, John Kettler
Doodlebug
You sure about that? Aren't we looking at a couple of FK297® based on the 76.2mm M1939 not the M1942 ZIS-3 (FK288®)? Also a couple of 122mm M1938's and for luck the tail end of a Pak40 front left? Think you're right about the 150's though. John Kettler
Doodlebug, While the one in the right foreground certainly looked like a ZIS-3 initially, further study of the magnified image discloses the telltale semicircular hump of the FK 297® (ref. Gander & Chamberlain, WEAPONS OF THE THIRD REICH, p.186), and I concur that the one behind and to the left appears to be the same type of weapon. The M-1938s are properly identified as 12.2 cm sFh 396 ® (op cit., p. 213). Pak 40 is a gimme. Regards, John Kettler
