willbell
I'm working on an operation. It is freezing with snow. There is a river running through it. In the editor I have placed shallow fords on the river. When I reopen the file the fords have disappeared. I can understand why deep fords disappear, but why can't vehicles cross a frozen river at a shallow ford? Maybe trying to was just too dangerous so it was never done? Is this a bug, or a situation?
junk2drive
cold = water frozen = ice Your troops can walk on ice. In the editor it will show as water, in game as ice. Plot a vehicle move line to the ice and see if the line is red or green.
Holman
Just imagine that the troops can't see the ford when it's frozen over, thus they won't know to cross there. A shallow ford won't be on any map the troops are carrying.
willbell
I get that vehicles can't cross frozen fords even if they are shallow in CMAK, I was just asking if that was realistic. But the point about not being able to detect them makes sense. I guess it's a situation.
junk2drive
I am playing Hans' Saar Bridgehead op. In the editor I see fords. The first battle is frozen, blizzard, the water is ice. The second battle is cold, water is not ice, I don't see the fords now. Ops are weird.
willbell
junk2drive, I'm playing that op too. Here's a possibility. If you make the weather snow and freezing, with conditions in each battle variable, then the fords stay in the editor. But if you make the conditions snow and freezing for all the battles like I did, then the fords go away in the editor. I'm going to experiment a little.
junk2drive
As Allies, second battle setup, I get foxholes. But it is an Allied attack.
willbell
I'm intrigued, but don't want to get an unfair jump on my opponent.
