dieseltaylor
From the U.S. ARMY-NAVY JOURNAL OF RECOGNITION -SEPTEMBER 1943 ISSUE 1 "After their experience with the Sherman in North Africa the Germans have a high opinion of it. In fact, according to captured documents, it seems likely they already have plans to produce an imitation" !!!! Who was fooling who?
Sergei
A long time ago someone posted a link to the translation of that particular German report. That Sherman was not equivalent of a Panther and its gun wasn't as good as that in PzKpfw IV doesn't take away that it was a good medium tank in 1943 (Panthers had just hit the market then). At least it had less breakdowns than anything the Germans had.
dieseltaylor
Thanks for that Sergei! I wouldn't have credited it given that they must have been chin deep in T34's - faster better armed and at that stage probably a better gun ... I thought General Patton had been writing the prose ...LOL ... getting ready for Tigers.
