Seaton is a widely published and well respected military historian, who was an officer himself, a colonel. The book you named is considered a must read, as shown in the review. The site is a tremendous information resource for books on World War II, many of them quite unusual.

Here are 18 reviews from amazon.com. As you can see, not everyone loves the book or the author. I should further note that Seaton did not have full access to Russian archives when he wrote his book.

Thus, it does not reflect the insights gleaned by authors who had such access later on.
