ryddle
Hello, I have a problem where trying to load a PBEM file, the SC application dies without any feedback whatsoever. Any help that you can provide would be helpful. Thanks, Reade Version. SC 1.06 Platform: Win XP professional Problem: When entering password for Axis, the application dies and just *poof* disappears without any messages. No event viewer details/logs File: ReadeVSKen-002.sav (available on request) Tests: 1. Loaded up file. When prompted for password, entered password and application dies. 2. Loaded file. When prompted for password, entered wrong passwords. I get a failed login. When finally enter valid password, app fails. 3. Created test of new PBEM game and tested cycling through turns. All works well. 4. Reapplied patch 1.06 and re-ran test 1. with same results. 5. Overwrote file in PBEM directory and tested from received email. Same results. Is this an application error, invalid (garbled) file, etc?

ryddle
The new zip file worked however I was surprised at the application just disappearing without it throwing an error indicating an invalid file. Hopefully we won't have to only use .zip. Cheers, -Reade

ryddle
I'm not sure if it will help Hubert, but my opponent on this game (Ken) was mentioning that he wasn't, and isn't prompted for a password. Cheers, -Reade
Hubert Cater
Ken might not have entered a password on his first turn, and if so he will not be prompted for one after that. Just for everyone else in case they encounter a similar issue, the problem was that the PBEM file was set to 'read-only'. My guess is that this was caused by either e-mail program as they may be automatically doing this to protect users from potentially malicious files. In this case I suggest zipping the PBEM files before sending as it usually eliminates 99% of these problems. Hubert
