Les the Sarge 9-1
Yep. Read a book about the first Gulf War. Stormin Norman was considered an asshole by his subordinates as he was an offensive disrespectful jerk, which naturally earned him little respect in the other direction. Thus, I have little kind things to say of the man. Big difference with Patton, is he did what he did under difficult circumstances. Stromin Norman though, was just lucky and that's that. Right place right time fighting a useless blowhard that couldn't fight his way out of a wet sack. Generals become famous for many reasons, and not all of them are deserved or accurate. Col. Gen. Guderian
I rank Patton up there with Balck and Chuikov as being one of the greatest field commanders of the war. He was tireless and threw everything into making his men work harder.
reiver
I liked the movie, George C Scott is a good actor, Patton a great General. I also enjoyed a Bridge too Far and was always amused at the Runstedt - Model discussion about who was the best Allied General.

munkee
You may find the boardgame "Patton in Flames" useful for your Mod, its availible from Austrailian Design Group (ADG) and should have all the deployment info you want (it continues the war after the fall of the Reich, as you'd like your mod to do). They also do Another what if game "America in Flames" with the victorious Axis invading the Americas The American tanks in the battle of the Bulge film were chaffees, aparently a few did see action in the actual battle. Of course the vast majority of the Allied tanks in the Bulge would have been Shermans [ May 30, 2004, 01:11 PM: Message edited by: munkee ]
