In a big option menu at the beginning could be set many values and/or formulas of the game. For example the value of MPP plundered in the different countries. And the value of MPP gained per turn for the countries. Maybe also the units and unit levels of each unit in each level of research. Also the research section could be customizable by the player. I think, we are such a big community of fans, that would figure out the right balance after short time and could post some savable settings for the standard games here.
