DalmatiaPartisan Posted February 11, 2003 Share Posted February 11, 2003 Also there were many other fractions in Yug - like "Ljotics" in serbia, "Domobrans" in Croatia...It seems that nazi-s made nations uprising on purpose to rule Yugoslavia as simple as they could. Yugoslav army before germans attack was in very weak condition.Lots of people were freightened of german war machine Old weapons,poor morale and foreign agents made clear that defense had no chance. Although there wasnt any real defense. One of modern weapons were french airplanes- i think "Dornier". On the other hand partisans couldnt count on any help from allies or USSR in the first days of war - british helped a lot to chetnics with materials, weapons ...and that was all because they were considered as a royalistic force to fight germans. reality looked different - chetnics didnt fight germans and afterwards they fight against partisans - mostly used as infantry during italians artilery and aerial attacks. In italian occupation zone,chetniks made deal whith italian commanders.That means that they still make resistance to ustashis and their actiones against Serbs,but on that teritory they didn't fight against Axis.In german occupation zone in NDH some chetniks made resistance to germans and ustashis,but other ones made deal with ustashis and take common military operationes against partisans in exchange for suspension of ustashi actiones against local Serbs.
