Brent Pollock
As per title, I'm after info pertaining to the composition of this unit. It was apparently part of 85. Infanterie Div., which fought the Governor General's Foot Guards in Wouwsche Plantage. Any other info on units that fought this battle on 23 October '44 would be appreciated. I've one Canadian source that shows a photo of a KO'd Nashorn, so I'm going with that and some JgPz IV(L). I've gone near blind from Googling and have checked: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/Infanteriedivisionen/85ID.htm http://www.diedeutschewehrmacht.de/85%20inf%20div.htm http://www.panzerdiesel.com/data/e/2j4304h.html?PHPSESSID=ca837bbb51b33b925a4a7d678de94538 http://www.legionmagazine.com/features/canadianmilitaryhistory/02-01.asp [ August 08, 2004, 09:14 PM: Message edited by: Brent Pollock ]

Nashorns were never issued to Division level units. They were an Army level asset and as such were issued in their own Heavy Tank Destroyer Battalions. There were few Nashorn units in NW Europe or Italy. Most were in the east. Hope this helps some. Brent Pollock
It's been a decade or so...I think it was Terry Copps' MAPLE LEAF ROUTE: SCHELDT. I'm going to get it out of the library for a refresher.
