Help on on board mortars

I still can't seem to figure out how to make the mortars fire at a target they can't see -

Ok, I have 2 81mm mortars in command from a company headquarters which can see the target

(so the lines from the HQ to the mortars are

red command lines, the HQ has a blue LOS to

the target.

but the 81 mm mortars have black lines to

the target of course target is outside of

minimum mortar range (but inside max range)

ok next steps?

So far so good. Now just target from the mortars, to the victim. The line will appear as black or red, but never mind (since it is true that you still can't see them).

The hey is that the target line will "stick", and you'll get a yellow line for area target, ending right on top of your designated target. Hit GO and watch the mortars fire away.

This was confusing to me at first, because I kept expecting the target line from the mortars to be magically blue. But it's just a matter of being able to "stick" the line to the target. Try doing the same somewhere where your HQ unit cannot see. The line won't stick.

Just order your mortars to fire at the target in view of the commanding HQ unit. You will see a yellow line indicating the mortar is able to fire.
