pad152
How common was it to for infantry to carry and drop Anti-tank mines in the path of on coming tanks? I'm not talking about mine fields, how were the Higgins mine carried by the 101st used?
russellmz
you can order a tank to area target with his mg to the side. this allows the tank to face forward while pointing somewhere else. bad for commander's mg ammo though

This was not normally done by infantry. Remember, the paratroopers were jumping into the midst of enemy-held territory. They could reasonably expect to be scattered and not in contact with their logistic tail for some time. So they had to carry everything they thought they would need with them. Their mission was usually to seize an objective quickly by surprise and then hold it until they could be relieved by conventional ground forces. The mines would have been useful in establishing a defensive perimeter. Michael
