Assault tanks

Recommended Posts

Assault guns? They basically grew out of the need for field artillery to keep up with rapidly advancing motorized infantry and tanks. They were often built around dated tank chassis, and were generally cheaper and easier to produce than turreted tanks.

In CM, they're generally best for assaulting concentrations of infantry or demolishing buildings. A number of the German assault guns in CM will also have some anti-armor rounds (A=armor piercing C=hollow charge), too.

Some are minimally armored and will only protect against small arms fire, while others have decent but not exceptional armor. They're not "tanks" in the proper sense, so you should generally keep them clear of enemy tanks and anti-tank guns. From a hull-down position they can be used in a pinch to take up overwatch (covering) positions for advancing turreted tanks--at least, they were used that way historically, afaik.

The Churchill Avre has a big gun with high blasting power.

If it shoots at an infantrysquad than it will make many casualties.A very potent tank to kill bunkers,AT guns and buildings as well.

Never let it unprotected though, always use it in an assault together with infantry and other tanks.

The Jumbo is a heavier uparmored and fast Shermantank that can withstand punishment from several German guns a good tank to led an assault as well.

Thats why its named assaulttank.

Hope this helps you.

The Jumbo is basically a massively armored version of the lesser Shermans, but is a conventional tank with a turret created primarily as an infantry support tank.

The Churchill AVRE (Armoured Vehicle, Royal Engineers) was a specialty vehicle armed with a 29cm spigot mortar firing a 40lb bomb 80 yards to bust through fortifications.

Don't worry about the nomenclature as much as the vehicle specs themselves, as they indicate how to use the vehicle. Look at the speed, armor, gun caliber and length, ammo loadout, presence or absence of turret or top, etc.
