Skipper
Continuing our "dry runs" at CM2 this and CM2 that (I do hope that BTS chaps read at least some of them). Here is my version ("The Holy War", an MP3 sound file): web.referent.ru:2003/nvk/forum/files/Ivan_cat/Svyaschennaya_vojna_(Krasnoznamennyj_ansambl_).mp3 What is yours? By the way, the link I posted will not work for long. This is a "dumping ground" of russian VIF2 forum - older files are removed.

Blenheim
Why not just put the original hym of the Soviet Union, with the "oh holy Stalin lyrics" ? Well, anyway... it is a really cool battle hym.
The Commissar
Anything Soviet would do. The choirs are really amazing to hear, even though they all preach the wonders of communism. Im wondering about the Title Screen picture as well. I wonder what it will look like? Suggestions?
Foobar
"The Holy War" would be an excellent choice. Even if BTS doesnt use it, I am going to. I am currently using Wumpscut's "Bunker Gate 7" as my CMBO intro music..
Michael Emrys
I vote for Symphony No. 7 "Lenningrad" by Dmitri Shostakovich. If you've never heard it, beg, borrow, or steal a copy and give it a listen. It just might change your life. Michael
Skipper
> I vote for Symphony No. 7 "Lenningrad" Man, that's a choice! Btw, have you heard that the premiere performance of that symphony took place in the besieged city itself?
MikeT
Michael emrys, is there a chance you have a wav or MP3 of the start of that symphony? MikeT
Skipper
> even though they all preach the wonders of communism. In that particular song? Where? PS There is nothing in the text about democracy and free markets, either. [ 04-22-2001: Message edited by: Skipper ]
Blenheim
The Leningrad symphony was indeed dedicated to the city, but the premiere was not in Leningrad. Shostakovich began to write it in Leningrad during the siege, but in October 1941 the soviets evacuated him, to let him finish it in a less risky place. The premiere was in Kuibyshev in March 1942, and was performed in Leningrad for the first time in August, the same year. Several musics had to be recalled from the front to play it, and in fact many of them were wounded ( and several dead ) the day it was first played. From... well, somewhere in my memory. Even the dates. I've read it somewhere recentlly, but I am too lazy to look it out. Don´t quote me... My memory is pretty good, not perfect....
nijis
Try this: http://www.ludd.luth.se/users/silver_p/rus.html I assume that this stuff isn't protected by copyright. If so it would be quite an irony. [ 04-22-2001: Message edited by: nijis ]
