Gremlin
I've been trying to d/l part two (chs. IV-VII) of the Handbook on German Forces from the US Army Military History Institute, but it keeps timing out. Other docs d/l fine. (I'm using cable.) Anyone know of another place to get it? Thanks in advance. ------------------ War is cruel and you cannot refine it. --Sherman [This message has been edited by Gremlin (edited 01-03-2001).]
Wilhammer
I had these timeouts myself, but managed to d/l them on the second attempt. (I have a cable connection). Suggestion, shut off support for pdf documents in your browser, (first take notice of the path to the document in question in the status bar of IE5.x), and durectly download it. I think Acrobat is the time-out bottleneck. I am compiling a CD for personal use of all the MHI documents, and have d/led as of last night all the WW2 related ones. They consume nearly 400MB. It took about 2 hours interspersed with cleaning the office, cooking dinner, eating dinner, and watching TV.
Gremlin
I was just trying again and guessing Acrobat may be to blame. Thanks for the tip; I'll try that. They sure have some fascinating reading there. ------------------ War is cruel and you cannot refine it. --Sherman
Jeff Duquette
I have also had alot of problem trying to open some of the larger documents on this site. ACROBAT\ADOBE will freeze. Yet on the CMHI site I can open a several hundred page document in ACROBAT just fine. Thanks for the tip on the direct path down load. I will give it a shot.
