small suggestion for a keyboard shortcut

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My suggestion is for a "Toggle Display State" button. Let me explain. During the planning phase I like to have as much info as possible on the screen to aid my decision making. However, once my turn is finished, I prefer watching the movie with very little or no data to enhance the realistic aspect. (OK, OK, to get off on the graphics...lord knows they need a tiny bit of help!) So I find myself continually hitting shift-c, shift-p 3 times, shift...you get the picture, I hope. So my idea is for a "Save Display State 1" and "Save Display State 2" button which would save the current display config so you could toggle between them using a "Toggle Display State" button. It seems like it would be useful, but I'm not a hardcore wargamer, so I'm posting to see what everybody thinks about it.

BTW, what a fantastic forum this is. I laugh, I am informed, I sympathize when I read the posts here. Now I feel like raving about how great CM is, but I'll save it for another post later, breakfast time...

Yep this would be great. Personally I have the same trouble but with tress. I like to switch them off while plotting my turn so I dont miss any1. Then I put them back on to watch the movie. Then I turn them off at the end of the movie to see all the units. Then I turn them back on to get an overall look before pushing done. Then I repeat the process for the next turn. Using the f1,f2,f3 keys to save an overall map view would be excellent.

The hits just keep on comin'...how about a right-button click and hold to scroll the map? Currently the held right button draws a selection box like the left, so it's 'free for action'! And to top it off, steal the mouse scroll feature from Shogun. The top 2/3 of the sides of the screen is used to turn the viewpoint, and the bottom 1/3 'sidesteps' the view left and right. A brilliant feature, that, IMO.
