Juju
Damn DAMN DAMN, I'm mad!! I'm so pissed off, you wouldn't believe it. Wanna know why?? Here I am designing this huge map for a destroy operation. I dare say the most accurate map to date. A biggie. 4960x2960. I'm happily , meticulously copying it from an area map. I'm working on this baby for a couple of days now. working my AAARGH way from east to west (remember this bit). I'm about halfway, right. East side of the map bloody almost done, tile by bloody tile. Then I'm thinking: "From what side will the attacker come?" Ah, I think. South... so I go to parameters and enter attacker comes from south. so then I save the thing, cos you never know, you know. Then I go to the map, and to my surprise and anger, what do I see??? The game has altered the map dimensions By itsself to 2960x2960, cos it seems the Attacker isn't allowed to attack from the broad side of the map. thereby it deleted the Eastern portion of the map. 2 frickin' days work, down the drain. It's a real bummer this info isn't explained in the manual. So all you designers out there, if you're gonna make a BIG map, you better decide which way the attacker comes before you start making it. Damn again! If there's anything I hate it's doing a well done job over again. Guest Rommel22
I feel your pain, altough I never made huge maps. It's still pisses me off when things like that happen. Or when I forget to save the thing and so on. ------------------ From the Das Reich book as said by a German soldier "when the Russians reached us, we opened fire, the first wave had no weapons. The second wave didn't either (fire fodder). The 3rd and 4th had weapons and opened fire on us. By this time we were low on ammo, but we drove them back." Juju
Thanks for the support Rommel. Normally I make a regular backup of maps I'm working on in a different folder. Except for this one of course...
Guest KwazyDog
JuJu, if youve only done part of the map (you mentioned mainly the East), why dont you rescale the map before changing the op type? Hopefully this way you can save some of your hard work. Worth a try, anyways. PS : Oh, eek, looks like you didnt save it JuJu? I know its a long shot, but have you tried changing back to the origional style of op? robo
Kind of odd that the attacker wasn't allowed to attack from the broad side since this is what usually happens in the quick battles I've been playing.

Funny thing is that the terrain is still blank and at elevation 7, but all the landmarks I entered that were on the deleted part (quite a few) are still there. ------------------ I am not a racialist, but, und this is a big but, we in the National Bocialist Party believe das überleben muss gestammen sein mit der schneaky Armstrong-Jones (Mr. Hilter)
