When setting up a quick battle one of the options is attacker, if Im playing a meeting engagement what does the selection of attacker determine?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter for meeting engagements.

IIRC, if you set one of the sides as the attacker you then set a bonus/disadvantage for that side. I did this once to see if it worked and it did in 1.01

Since there isn't an equal option.

I just thought chosing Meeting engagment overrides that. and makes both sides equal (no attacker/defender)

The handicap setting is based on the attacker (Attacker +50%, +100%, -10%, none, etc.) I think that's the only thing that is affected in a meeting engagement. IIRC, this is separate from the points advantages seen in the other battle types.

Intelweennie has it right. The advantage is sepparate from the Assault/attacker point multiplier. I just checked this and it works. Kinda nice if you want to give the AI some more points to play with.
