joeybart
I just received beyond overlord from a friend of mine and am having trouble downloading it. I have it on my c drive in cmbo file and it looks like everything i need is there but when i click on the icon to start the game two messages pop up. One says "Error Starting Program The COMBAT MISSION.ESE file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:DirectDrawEnumerateExA." The second one says "C:\ProgramFiles\CMBO\CombatMission.exe A device attached to the system is not functioning." I am not very good with computers so I really do not know what these messages are saying. I do have the min. requirements w/windows 95 abd 32mb of memory so I do not know what the problem is..please help. joe
nevermind
Not sure i understand. You got it from a friend and your trying to download it? or install it?I assume install it.If that is the case, pop in the CD(if it doesnt autorun)go to whatever drive your cdrom drive is and open it.Run the setup.exe file. After the install,i(dont know about anyone else) had to create a shortcut to the combatmissions.exe that was in my CMBO folder(dont do a shortcut to your cdrom drive,it wont show any of the scenarios,or ops you download in the future). That should do it,but what do i know.If not, sorry. Mud
I think that asking about how to facilitate your copyright infringement on the company's own forum reflects on your wit, or lack thereof.
Alsatian
There are people still discovering CM. Maybe his friend sent him a link to download the free demo, and he's having a problem with that. ISTR having that problem myself with the demo. But then again those error messages might as well be in cyrillic for as much as I know what they mean. So what do I know?
Firefly
Like Ares, I assume you mean installing rather than downloading. The error message is referring to DirectX, it may be worth checking to see what version of DirectX you have (select 'Run' from your Start Menu and enter DXDIAG), if you are still using the version that came originally with Windows 95 it's probably out of date. I think CMBO requires version 6.0 or later. You can get the latest version from Microsoft's web site. Failing that I'd suggest you ask the question again on the Technical Support board, Shrulli has forgotten more about graphics software than I'll ever know.
