spotting the killer

Recommended Posts

Is it possible for a tank of yours (during

the play of game) to get popped by someone

so quickly (perhaps its rounding the

corner) and assuming no other of its team

mates (tanks/infantry) are around, that

the location of the offending anti-tank

round remains unknown (i.e. essentially

its killed (crew and all) before it can

report the enemy gun.

Yes indeed - and it isn't even all that hard. An AT gun, especially, will frequently not be spotted until it fires several times. Check out CMHQ, there's a really nice article Fionn wrote to illustrate it.

Just today while showing CM off to a friend from work this happened. I was showing him Riesberg and we were Americans. It was 10 seconds into turn 1 and one of Shermans got popped by the 88 up on the hill. My buddy about jumped out of his seat when he saw it. Now I knew it was the 88 since I have played this scenario about 10,000 times but I got no report, no ID no nothing, just an explosion and a dead Sherman.

If it's in Combat Mission, it's on Combat Mission HQ!
