Brian Rock
From previous discussions on this topic I predict the answer will be "lack of interest". Moving to real time would require a completely new engine, and change the entire dynamics of the game. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it's not the case that real time is necessarily any better than WEGO. There are strengths and weaknesses to both, and to date the Major has preferred the latter solution. Personally one of the things I like about TacOps is that it isn't real time, and would be disappointed to see the WEGO version dropped. Now I'll let the Major speak for himself.
Mike Robel
If you want real time, you can always play BCT.
MajorH TacOps Developer
I am not interested in what is usually meant by "real time" gaming. I would like to do a game engine eventually that is faster than "real time". In other words, the product of several minutes of work by the player would be a game turn that represented several hours of real time.

These are both quite good, but different to TacOps. My standard advice here is "get them all".
Agua
Have you guys given Airborne Assault a try? It's not "real time" but "continuous time", and pausable. Different period and focus, I know, but it really is a fantastic approach to gaming with counters.
