Will sneaking produce less damage in minefields??

Recommended Posts

I hope this wasnt asked a ba-jillion times before, but:

If my infantry is sneaking as opposed to running when it stumbles into a minefield, will they take less casualties or more?

I would think less since they are able to take evasive action, but I suppose if they ran through it, they would be past it sooner and maybe use fewer footsteps to do so.

I don't know exactly how this is modelled in Combat Mission - for example, in reality if you were running, your footfalls would be heavier, and more likely to set off mines. But you can't take evasive action of mines that you can't see, so I'm not sure sneaking would make any difference.

Unless the mines are perfectly hidden, if you are going slowly & carefully your men may notice patches of dead grass, newly turned earth or even partially buried mines & so stop before you are too far into the field/have taken many casualties.
