Bob Perez
I'm hoping to be able to play CM on our LAN here and was wondering if LAN support made it into the initial release or is it part of the anticipated TCP/IP patch? I'd like an official answer because there seems to be some doubt about this. Two posters on the historical wargames newsgroups specifically stated that LAN support is in, and one of them is Fionn Kelly! Despite this, I have heard several players say it's not in. So, what gives? Thanks, BP
sage2
TCP/IP = LAN. TCP/IP is just a network protocol that happens to work over the internet ('cause that's what the interenet is based off of).
Mikeydz
Well, since I still don't have my copy, I can verify it personally, but BTS stated in a previous thread that TCP/IP may be about 2 months down the road, hopefully. So technically, LAN play is not supported in the usual sense. You can play over a LAN via PBEM, transfering the files using the network, but your specific request is part of the TCP/IP patch down the road. Jeer
I for one can't wait! There is just something about real time gaming that pbm does not have.
