Guest gyrene251
This may be possible, I haven't tried it...can the artillery fire unobserved fire missions? This was done many times during WW2. See http://www.trailblazersww2.org/725th.htm Or must the FO be able to see what the artillery must fire at?
Guest Madmatt
They can now in the Beta but their accuracy will flat out SUCK...I actually showed this in a recent EXCLUSIVE CHAT GROUP ONLY series of POTDS...Pays to drop in... slazzari
Los - That brings up a question about TRP's. Do you get a 'speed' bonus for firing at a TRP, as the location is already registered into the gun? Thanks! Fionn
slazarri, Yes you do.. Instead of waiting maybe 3 or 4 minutes for big arty you can get it in 1 minute. makes a BIG difference to arty effectiveness.
Guest hunt52
Do you purchase TRPs like other units? - bill
Guest Big Time Software
Yes, TRPs are "purchased" either by the scenario designer or when you play a Design Your Own game. They are placed just like units too, though their location can't change once the game starts. Another thing about indirect fire... if you have an on map piece of artillery (say a mortar) you can fire indirectly if you are on the the defensive and haven't ever moved the unit after the game starts. This simulates the crew having prepared the calculations and communications necessary to fire in an indirect role. Once you move 'em they lose all there preparations and can only fire in the direct role for the rest of the game. Steve

Guest Big Time Software
Target Reference Points. Basically a place where all artillery calculations have been precomputed. This allows the FO to say, "smack 'em down on Dog One" (or whatever they would say ) and the rounds will arrive fairly quickly and quite accurately. Such preparations took time and effort so they aren't always made available to you by scenario designers. Steve
Colin
Wow sweet! And these are in CM? Man I was just watching Tour of Duty and I heard him call in a fire mission but he didn't give coordinates just a code. I was wondering about that. Pretty cool. ------------------ Visit my webpage! http://cm4mac.tripod.com
