The weapon each squad member is carrying is individually modelled, and as those squad members are hit, the squad loses the use of that weapon, and the squad's overall FP decreases. Occasionally, if the soldier carrying one of the squad's automatic weapons (BAR, MG42, etc) is hit, another squad member will drop his current weapon and pick the automatic weapon up.
