Map sizes

Recommended Posts

I notice that sometimes the AI forces us to use a larger map than expected, probably because we have "too many" units to put on the map.

So what? If we specify a medium-sized map, why does the AI bump it up to huge?

Imagine in CM2, trying to replay Kursk. The AI will always try to increase the size of the map -- what will it do then?

I am a little annoyed because right now I am playing a PBEM, and the attachments are about 3M in size because the AI increased the size of the map on us.

As I've understood it, the map size you set is a relative value.

Small: Fairly crowded with troops.

Medium: Not that crowded.

Large: Almost impossible to cover the front line.

So a "medium" map with plenty of units will be huge in size. What you want is a "small" map.

Yup, same here. The dimension that seems to be affected most by this is the width. I think it might also determine the number of victory flags.

What is the matter Pat - afraid to come out on a wide open playing field against my OOB? biggrin.gif....

Still, I agree and didn't know the logic between small, medium and large maps. We can try again using the above idea!
