Stuka
While playing VOT as the dirty hun,(2 am this morning)I had a rifle squad hidden in trees in the far left flank, just forward of the barbed wire. While I was busy on the right flank and unfortunately moving on to the next turn so I can't see the replay,I've now got a large area of fire just in front of the squad's position. There were U.S. troops (including a flamethrower) in the vicinity but not too close. I couldn't find the F/Thrower unit later, maybe they did a suicide charge and got nailed in the process? Or could it be just a fire started by HE artillery? The smoke was black, possibly indicating a jellied gasoline fire rather than timber? Certainly added to the visual effect! Stuka out... PanzerShark
I can't really say if Flamers do explode or not since i have never seen them do so. But mortars, tanks, bazoos and schrecks can cause big area fires. One of my tactics is attacking enemy full strength with my tanks when they are in the woods. Often the tanks have no LOS but burning down the woods with 4 squads or more in it, usually does the trick (area fire).
aka_Deadline
In one game that i was playing VOT I had laid a battery of artillay into the forest and the artillary actually from what I saw had killed the flame thrower unit and had started a fire around other units.
