Melloj
Have been exploring the demo...obviously i still have little idea of what im doing, so the Krauts are making huge progress against my Yanks. But I seem to have a tiny tech problem, and just wanted to ask if anyone has had this occur, and what they did. I guess normally people wouldnt even bother asking about it, but im a perfectionist When i swing the camera around using the arrow keys, there seems to be somewhat of a stutter as the camera moves around....its not extremely bad, but noticeable. The problem is, my system is top-notch. amd 750, geforce 32 ddr, SbLive, 256 ram. One would think this to ensure smooth performance. Im running the game in 1024x768, and using the 5.32 detonators... is there any tweaking possible? thanks p.s. seems like a GREAT game!
John-SJ
You'e right Melloj, you shouldn't be having any video problems with that system. I have a similar system and running at 1152x864x16 camera movement is smooth as glass. I'm at work now so I can't check my driver version but are you sure that 5.32 is the most recent Detonator driver? If not, try the latest version. Melloj
Yeah they are totally new... got them from reactorcritical, few days old. Maybe i will try it in windows 2000 when i get home today... Thats another thing, does the game run at all on windows 2000 NT based o/s?
Guest Madmatt
5.32 is the latest LEAKED version and it is MUCH improved over the last OFFICIAL release which would have been the 5.20 (some OEMS have 5.22 based drivers now) versions. My recommended site for driver updates is www.reactorcritical.com Madmatt ------------------ If it's in Combat Mission, it's on Combat Mission HQ! stodge
I get this a lot on my P3-700, 256Mb ATI Rage 128 Pro, except on tiny maps. Larger maps are unplayable. Am I the only one?
mike_in_texas
stodge, I noticed your system specs are quite similar to mine (Compaq Presario PIII 700). I've been having a lot of trouble with installing my ATI Rage 128 card (i.e., upon boot-up, my monitor remains blank -- nothing happens, which probably means something's wrong other than Windows). Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike
stodge
Hmmmm Ive never seen that happen on mine. Try going to http://www.rageunderground.com if you haven't already, and check out the discussion forums there. Unfortunately Im not a hardware guy, so I dont know that much about graphics cards. Melloj
Mike_in_texas. If you dont even get the boot up sequence, and your monitor stays blank, its most likley your video card. Is it an AGP or a PCI slot card? Did you buy the card seperatly? or did it come with the system itself. The Compaq computer might have a motherboard that doesnt support that specific brand of card, but that would be very rare. Check all your connections, make sure the card is pressed in all the way. Also when you turn your computer on does it make any beep sound?
mike_in_texas
Melloj, It's a PCI slot card which I had bought separately (a few months ago) for my old Presario 4824, which was working fine in that computer. But, when transferring it over to my new 7599, I just get some power on lights (I'm not sure about the beep) and a blank monitor. I saw something at the Compaq and ATI websites about similar problems when installing an ATI Rage 128 into some older Presarios (I believe the 4000 and 5000 series). Any suggestions appreciated! Melloj
Hey Mike. Well it doesnt look good, I did some digging, and it looks like a lot of people have had problems putting in 3rd party PCI cards into the newer 7500 presario series. (i actually have summer job at compaq, so its easy for me to check up) Anyways this link below is a firmware upgrade to your series of computer. I dont know if it will fix your problem, but it wont hurt to try. IT fixes a whole bunch of other problems anyways...i guess you will need to do this with your old video card, then try the new one. http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_syn.asp?recid=SP14017 Hope it helps! There are instructions on there, how to do it,
mike_in_texas
Thanks for the info, guys. I am having trouble downloading anything from the Compaq website, but I'll keep trying. Mike
Lawyer
Melloj, I have the same problem running full CM on PIII 600 with 128RAM and Matrox G400 Max. So I avoid the keys and use the mouse, which is smooth though a little twitchy. ------------------ Res ipsa loquitur
