Hey Steve what's a "Quality Assurance Manager" do?Just curious, I went to some computer store that was having a moving sale and I bought the game Lords Of The Realm 2 and saw your name under that heading in the credits?

What all games did you work on while w/ Sierra??

Just curious.

Thanks.

Yup, that was me doing QA smile.gif Quality Assurance, at least how we defined it at Impressions (Sierra) includes testing for bugs, play balancing, improvement suggestions, scenarios, and compatibility testing. In short, QA are the folks that are supposed to keep the development and marketing elements in check wink.gif There were various other things we did, but that is the bulk of the work.

LoR was the big one I was in charge of testing. Man, that was some ride... I also worked on the Win95 and Mac ports of Caeser II (a bit more than just QA), same for the Mac port of Lords of the Realm II, QA'd Casino Deluxe II (er, I think it was a II!), and spent significant time on something that was killed off. There were other projects too, like localizing REL for German and French, same for LoRII.

But then I moved on to be a Producer for Civil War Generals 2. The Producer is the guy that coordinates the development and makes sure things get done right, on time, and on budget. I was also the defacto QA Manager for that project as well, and had to do a whole lot with the marketing end of things too (including making sure corporate HQ didn't kill us off for a RTS game, I kid you not!). Very hands on, stressfull job smile.gif

There you go smile.gif

Steve,

On LotR2, who was it that made that silly song? I was going through the directory of all the sounds and one of the files is a completely ridiculous song of various sounds in the game with a really cheesy drumbeat as backup.

Man, I cracked up when I heard that for the first time.

Jason,

That was Keith, the sound/music guy. I litterlly fell on the floor laughing when I heard that! I had been listening to those voices for about 16hrs a day for several weeks, and then to hear them doing a rap was hysterical. Pure brilliance! Keith is a very tallented guy, and a good person to boot.

It's the innocuously titled setup2.wav

Lyrics:

My Lord?

Yes?

My Lord?

What now?

Let's get diggin'!

Ho! Allright!

My Lord?

Yes?

My Lord?

What now?

Let's get diggin'!

Whoa! Look out!

Excellent!

We'll enjoy this.

Excellent!

Leave it to us, sir!

Excellent!

We'll enjoy this.

Excellent!

Those damn fools!

Diggin'!

For honor and glory!

Diggin'!

For England!

Diggin'!

For the throne!

This is the weirdest s**t I've ever done.

Whoa!

Dig...dig...dig...diggin'!

Whoa!

Ho!

Whoa!

Ho!

Let's get diggin'!

My Lord?

Yes?

My Lord?

What now?

Pikemen, ready!

Archers, ready!

Macemen, ready!

MOOOooo!

Sire!!!

Aaaarrrrggghhh!

Can I be excused?

Jason
