AttorneyAtWar
So when i begin my games I usually send out small groups of men to try and identify/spot enemy positions by shooting and obviously observing. However is it gamey to fire at the Ai in the campaign to elicit a response? Or is it more realistic? Thanks, an odd question I know.
Michael Emrys
Reconnaissance by fire? Sure, it was done. Some how I doubt that it was done a lot by scouts however. Whatever was doing the shooting needed to be powerful enough to constitute a credible threat and survive return fire. Michael
womble
It's a little bit gamey, in that the AI doesn't assign short covered arcs to its troops to stop them giving their positions away too early, as a human player might. So you'll possibly get a more useable result from even light rifle fire at a longer range, against the AI than you would against a player. Having said that, coming under fire makes your pTruppen "uncomfortable" and the TacAI will often wriggle them around in their AS to find better cover, and that can give away a position as well. And an incautious opponent, or one that wants to drive off your scouts, will return their fire, making your recce by fire successful. So using it against the AI is hardly a grievous sin of sportsmanship
